Iranian-Canadian Students Protest for Reopening of Iran-Canada Embassies at Minister Freeland's Office

On Sunday September 10, 2017, a group of Iranian-Canadian students peacefully gathered in front of the Toronto office of Hon. Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to demand the federal government to fulfill its 2 year old promise to reestablish diplomatic relations with Iran and reopen the embassies in Ottawa and Tehran.

The protestors highlighted the many problems that have been created for Iranian-Canadians in general and Iranian-Canadian students in particular since the closure of the embassies 5 years ago. The Iranian Canadian Congress strongly supports the demands of these young Iranian-Canadians for re-engagement with Iran and once again calls on the Government of PM Trudeau and Minister Freeland to fulfill their promise to the Iranian-Canadian community, reestablish relations with Iran and reopen the embassies.
