The Iranian Canadian Congress Calls for Prosecution of Hate Crime on Mr. Akhgar

Here is a statement from the Iranian Canadian Congress (ICC) about the hate crime on Mr. Akhgar:

Kind Attention: Honourable Premier Brad Wall, Honourable Minister of Justice Gordon Wyant Q.C., Police Chief Clive Weighill, Chief Federal Prosecutor Christine Haynes

Today, the Iranian Canadian Congress is expressing its outrage over the incident of racial abuse that Mohammad Ahkgar experienced earlier this month on March 12th, 2017. We call on the concerned officials in Saskatchewan to prosecute this matter as a hate crime.

At this crucial juncture where division and hatred threaten our Canadian way of life, officials across the country, including governments at all levels, police forces, and the judiciary, must take bold and clear action to protect our multicultural values and show that such hatred has no place in our country.

We await appropriate responses from the Premier's office, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice, the Saskatoon Police, and Saskatchewan's Chief Federal Prosecutor.

Sincerely,

Pouyan Tabasinejad, Policy Chair of the Iranian Canadian Congress

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Iranian Canadian Congress
