The ICC is deeply concerned about the proposed “Non-Nuclear Sanctions Against Iran Act”, which we see as not only contrary to the Government’s stated policy of re-engagement with Iran, but also as an obstacle to Canada meeting its international obligations. If enacted into law, we believe this bill will block any possibility of re-engagement with Iran and the reopening of the embassies.
We are up against strong lobbies that are pushing for the approval of this bill. Blocking this bill will be an uphill battle but we have a strong plan in place and we believe that with involvement and support of Iranian Canadians across Canada we will be successful. Please stay tuned. An action alert will be issued very soon with instructions and details. Our work has just started!
