Here is a notice from the Board of Directors to all members of the Iranian Canadian Congress:
Dear Members of the Iranian Canadian Congress,
Based on the Bylaws of the Iranian Canadian Congress (ICC), established at the time of the organization’s inception (back in 2007), all the information collected by the ICC, including but not limited to ICC’s membership list as well as the personal information of ICC members are protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Under PIPEDA as well as the ICC Bylaws, individuals’ information (including but not limited to their personal information) is protected by the organization (ICC) and such information cannot be disclosed to anyone or any third party without obtaining each individual’s (member’s) consent.
However, members of the organization have the right to request access to the list of members according to the Ontario Corporate Act. Therefore to comply with our bylaws and applicable provincial and federal regulations upon a member filing a request we should provide her/him with the information of members who have provided the ICC prior consent for release of their information.
Please note that starting from today anyone joining the ICC can make the decision as to whether they want the ICC to disclose their information to another member or not. If you are a current member and you would like the ICC to disclose your name and contact information to other members upon their written request, please download the consent form from here, complete the form, sign it and email it back to the ICC Board Secretary: [email protected] or send it to the ICC office (mailing address is available here).
We would like to again reassure you that your information is fully protected and that we will not release your information to any other individual or third party (including other ICC members) without your consent. YOUR PRIVACY IS IMPORTANT TO US.
Sincerely,
Board of Directors
