Members and Supporters of the Iranian Canadian Congress,
We'd like to inform you that Bijan Ahmadi has decided to leave the ICC Board of Directors on Aug 15, 2019. Bijan has served the ICC as a volunteer in different positions since 2015. After he was elected to the board by members of the ICC in 2015, he served as the PR director. In 2016, he was appointed by the board as the President of the ICC and served for two years in this position, afterwards serving as a board member and adviser. Bijan was steadfast in his dedication to the mission and the mandate of the ICC and he dedicated countless hours as a volunteer to further the goals of the ICC and the Iranian-Canadian community.
Under his leadership, the organization grew its reach and audience network from approximately 2000 people to currently over 20,000 people nationwide. He led the transformation of the ICC into a strong advocacy organization that's known by many Canadian politicians and political parties as an organization that stoutly defends the rights of Iranian-Canadians.
On leaving the organization, Bijan said:
"I am leaving the ICC board due to personal and professional reasons and because of projects I am getting involved with in other non-profit organizations. Some of these projects are related to the upcoming federal elections. These projects are not necessarily aligned with the work of the ICC and therefore I believe it's best that I leave the board. I am confident that the present board will continue to lead the ICC to greater heights. Without a doubt I will remain dedicated to the organization as an active member"
We thank Bijan Ahmadi for his leadership and work for the ICC and wish him best of luck in his future endeavours.
