Mitra Saffari

Mrs. Mitra Saffari is an Industrial Engineer and a certified Program Management Professional (PMP), with more than 20 years of experience in program management. She graduated from Isfahan Technical university “Sanaati Isfahan”. Mrs. Saffari immigrated to Canada 13 years ago and has been working in Public Transit projects in a Consulting Engineering firm in Toronto.

Outside of her professional life, Mrs. Saffari is interested in peace, justice and human rights related issues. Her  passion as a social and political activist is making a just society free from discrimination and violence. Over the years, she has been involved in various anti-oppression and human rights activities. Mrs. Saffari has organized and coordinated several talks for the Iranian community in Toronto including; International Women’s Day (March 8) , International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (May 17), International Day of Peace (September 21), International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women (November 25) and Human Rights Day (December 10).

Mrs. Saffari aims to help with the development of the Iranian Canadian Congress into a space where members of the Iranian community in Canada can exercise democracy through constructive dialogue and criticism, while practicing tolerance toward disagreements and showing respect for diverse identities and opinions. In addition, she would like to ensure that the voices and needs of marginalized and unprivileged members of the Iranian community are heard and acted upon through the Iranian Canadian Congress.
