Communications Intern

Paid summer internship, Mid-June to end of August 2018, Full time position.

Location: ICC Office, Unit 900, 45 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto.

We are recruiting a communications intern to support our PR and Policy teams at the Iranian Canadian Congress. This position requires a good deal of thoughtful analysis and independent judgment, as well as flexibility to perform a variety of duties. We are looking for a passionate, self-driven and positive individual who can work independently and as part of a team.  

The Iranian Canadian Congress is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-religious organization that aims to uphold the interests of Iranian-Canadians and encourage their participation in the Canadian society. ICC values its interns for their strong sensibility and promotes their professional development during the internship. You’ll be an integral part of the team, involved in doing the following:

  • Researching, writing, and distributing press releases to targeted media

  • Collating and analysing media coverage

  • Writing and editing reports, articles, briefs, etc. 

  • Assisting with planning and writing for the organization’s media presence

You need to have the following:

  • Full-time student status both during previous and next academic year

  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills  

  • Understanding of basic principles of marketing and communications

  • Strong  research skills

  • Attention for details, professionality and sensibility in writing

  • Working knowledge of different social media channels

  • Students studying political science are encouraged to apply for this position.

  • Familiarity with the Canadian political system is a plus. 

  • Knowledge of Farsi (Persian) language is a plus.

Please note as the budget for this internship position is provided through a government grant (Canada Summer Jobs) there are additional eligibility requirements noted below:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; 
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
